Esther Huiskers-Stoop

Esther Huiskers-Stoop is an associate professor in Tax Law and has been affiliated with the Tax Law Department of the Institute for Tax and Economics at Leiden University since 2016. She is coordinator and lecturer of the courses Formal Tax Law and Moot Court Tax Law. Within the research programme ‘Limits of Fiscal Sovereignty’ she conducts research into the Promotion of Tax Compliance. The focus here is particularly on the area of (i) voluntary provision of tax-relevant information (including horizontal tax monitoring, Cooperative Compliance, trust in taxation), (ii) information gathering in the environment of taxpayers and the safeguarding of fundamental rights (including information exchange, data protection, privacy) and (iii) legal protection of taxpayers against government action (including tax administrative procedural law, information provision procedure). She is also deputy head of the Tax Law Department.
